Seafield Waste Water Treatment Process

The treatment works at Seafield consists of the following processes:

Preliminary treatment: To remove debris, rag, stones, grit etc.

Primary Treatment:   To remove any settleable material.

Activated sludge:   A biological process to remove polluting matter.

Secondary settlement:  To remove solids produced in Activated Sludge process.

Ultra Violet disinfection: To kill bacteria

Sludge treatment:  To prepare the sludge for recycling.

The works consistently meets both the contractual standards monitored by the Scottish Water PFI(Private Finance Initiative) team and the regulatory standards monitored by Scottish Environmental Pollution Agency. (SEPA)
