Caledonian Produce boosts recycling
Caledonian Produce, a leading producer of fresh prepared foods, has boosted its recycling rates by an impressive 50% and significantly reduced its landfill costs by now recycling food waste.
Setting ambitious green targets
Part of the international Bakkavor group, the company has set itself ambitious green targets in a bid to recycle 100% of all the waste they produce.
Since 2010, we’ve been working closely with Caledonian Produce to help them handle and separate their food waste, whilst ensuring no negative impact on productivity.
Food waste from their manufacturing facility at Bo’ness is now transported to our state-of-the-art food waste recycling plant at Deerdykes, near Cumbernauld where it is transformed into green energy and a natural biofertiliser.
A hassle-free solution
Delighted with the results, David Cornwallis, the company’s Business Improvement Analyst, says, “The introduction of the new recycling system has been a huge success with recycling rates soaring virtually overnight.
“I am delighted with the flexibility that Scottish Water Horizons have shown to design a hassle-free service specific to our requirements and to help us manage not only food, but a range of waste streams.”
